Unit 1 In Unit 2 students explore patterns in the base 10 place value system and ways of representing large numbers. They apply their understanding of place value when estimating and computing with multi digit while numbers. Students are introduced to US traditional multiplication and division. Fact fluency is a critical skill that needs to be mastered. The expectation is that students score 100% on addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Timed fluency tests are given twice a trimester as part of the students grade. 100 problems for each operation at a timed rate of 4 minutes for addition and subtraction and 5 minutes for multiplication and division.The time allotment decreases by a minute during the third trimester. Students should practice their. facts daily. At the beginning of each unit students will receive a list of the topics that will be covered and that they will be tested on. |
